Christmas is a time for fun festivities with family and friends, but whether your flatmates are close friends or even just people you’ve met recently, you can celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with them! Here are some of our top tips to help you make it a very merry flatmas with your mates:
Secret Santa
A way to have a really jolly good time is to do a secret Santa with perhaps a £10 limit for people to go out and buy a silly or even thoughtful gift for each other. This is perfect if you don’t know your flatmates that well as there are many great gift ideas out there which are suitably for people with any tastes! The present giving can lead to many hilarious moments with your flatmates and gets you into the Christmas spirit.
Decorate your Flat
Christmas isn’t Christmas without some decorations in your flat to get you into the festive mood. You might not have the room for a giant tree, but a small one with some fairy lights, tinsel and ornaments will make it feel homely and really get you excited for the big day! It also ensures that your flat is cosy and isn’t just a temporary place to live, but feels like home.
Flatmate Christmas Lunch
If you and your flatmates are all going back home for Christmas it means you won’t get a chance to have a lovely big slap-up Christmas meal! Never fear as you can get all the flatmates together to have a pre-Christmas lunch with all the trimmings and crackers to make sure it’s a time to remember. Your waistline might not thank you with the first of two Christmas lunches, but it’ll certainly bring a great atmosphere and bond with your flatmates.
Board Games, Singalongs and Movie Marathons
There are so many activities that only the Christmas period can bring and playing board games is one of them! So why not dedicate an evening with your flatmates to have fun playing monopoly, or scrabble, or cards against humanity. Christmas is also a time of year when the classic tunes and movies are played. When you’re playing your board games, put some festive songs on and sing to your hearts content, and put on one of the many funny and memorable Christmas movies as well.
Festive Trips
Why just have a fun Christmas time in your flat! There is so much to do in the cities you live in, so take a day or evening trip with your flatmates to enjoy the festivities. You could visit a Winter Wonderland park, do some carol singing, go ice-skating, or even a Christmas market, there is sure to be something going on to enjoy!
